A She Speaks Sport Exclusive!

In just a few days the Netball World Cup begins and as the final teams touch down in the mother city. All eyes are on Africa, as it is the first time the Netball World Cup will be held on African soil since its inception in 1963. Sixteen teams are participating this year, with New Zealand as the current reigning champs.

I caught up with Spar Proteas assistant coach and HOD of sport at TUT university, Dumisani Chauke. We talk about her journey in netball and coaching, the responsibility she feels towards those she coaches and those who find her presence to be a beacon of inspiration and representation. I also ask her what this netball world cup means for Africa, the feeling in the team ahead of the games, as well as making history for women’s sport.
